One of my favorite cover designs to date. This Bible study for teen girls has a partnering women’s study by Lisa-Jo Baker with the same title, so I needed our art direction to be similar but have a distinct, youthful feel.
I created the illustrations for this cover by hand, painting three very distinct “seats” that represent different girls’ styles and personalities.
I love when a cover connects with the reader on a level that sparks conversation and reflection. A group of high school girls at my church actually went through this study, and one of the first things they talked about was which chair best represented each of them and why.
I then had a blast applying illustration, including some custom hand-lettering, to the interior. I used the chair illustrations in addition to illustrations from the women’s study to tie the two bible studies together.
